Harkirat Khamba

Registered Physiotherapist

Harkirat completed his Bachelors of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary followed by his Masters of Physiotherapy at Brunel University in London, England. Through his placements at school, he had the opportunity to gain experience in diverse areas of Physiotherapy such as hospital care, orthopedics, geriatric, stroke, hematology, concussion and vestibular therapy, home care, and sports therapy.

As an avid competitive sports player at the post-secondary level who has been injured in the past, he loves to bring in his experience, knowledge, and importance of training the mind and the body, to ultimately achieve his clients’ goals. Harkirat believes that incorporating an active client-centered approach to therapy, with individualized treatment plans for his clients can help them in returning to their best selves. Additionally, he believes that sometimes the best treatment available is the treatment of prevention.

Harkirat is one of the few trusted physiotherapists in Red Deer that works alongside the Central Alberta Orthopedics (CAO) and the Brent Sutter Sports Medicine Center (SMC) teams. Having the opportunity to work alongside the top Surgeons and MSK Sports Medicine Doctors in the province has allowed him to significantly improve upon his skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of injuries, that may or may not, require surgical interventions as well as pre and post-rehabilitation. As he is very interested in the sports and performance world, Harkirat also completes Return to Sport testing for any amateur, semi-professional and professional athletes that may come through the door who have sustained injuries or are completing post-operative care, to ensure a safe and appropriate return to high-level activity. In addition, Harkirat provides Blood Flow Restriction Therapy services to support his clients with their care.

In his own time, Harkirat enjoys playing basketball, football, MMA, reading, traveling, collecting sneakers, taking courses to improve upon his understanding and knowledge of therapy, and maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.
